White Fillings

Composite resin fillings (made from a mixture of plastic and glass called silicone dioxide) have been used in dentistry for over forty years.

Although they can take slightly longer to fit, and therefore cost more, they have become increasingly popular for those looking to maintain a beautiful smile despite the need for a filling or two.

Crowns

A crown is a piece of porcelain, carefully shaped and then fitted over the existing ‘prepared’ tooth, making it strong and giving it shape.

Crowns are regularly used here at Horsley Dental to restore teeth that have been broken, or weakened by decay or a large filling. They can improve the appearance of the tooth and be used where you have a root filling or need to hold a bridge/ denture firmly in place.

Dentures

A denture, is a removable prosthetic device, most commonly known as false teeth. It can be worn on the top or bottom of your mouth, and can be partial or full depending on the number of teeth that need to be replaced.

Today, dentures are very natural looking and fit much more comfortably and securely without the need for denture adhesives.

Root Canal

A root canal treatment (RCT) is required if the dental pulp (or central layer) of your tooth has become infected or inflamed

and cannot be saved. This normally arises as a result of advanced decay, a deep filling or a severe crack or fracture to the tooth due to a trauma. Occasionally it can be a result of gum disease.

The main symptom of a pulp infection is tooth pain and increased sensitivity to hot or cold. The tooth may become discoloured and the gum can swell and feel tender. You may also find that you have a metallic taste in your mouth. Sometimes, there are no symptoms at all.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Studies show that our smile is the most noticed and remembered feature when we meet someone new. Luckily, the modern dentistry offered here at Horsley Dental means that a bright and confident smile is now an accessible and affordable luxury for everyone.

With a range of easy, comfortable and convenient treatments available don’t feel the need to hide your teeth- smile confidently and give them something to remember!

Teeth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a quick and safe way to refresh and transform your smile- resulting in a healthy and more youthful appearance.

Treatment is pain-free and convenient and results can be seen from the first application.

Inlays

Here at Horsley Dentist we can offer you inlays instead of fillings. Fillings are soft and are moulded by the dentist to shape in the mouth.

Inlays are strong and can last longer than fillings, they’re especially suitable for the chewing surfaces of back teeth and for large repairs to front teeth where it can be difficult to make a white filling look natural.

Veneers

A veneer is generally a very thin layer of porcelain glued to the front of a tooth, similar to a false fingernail.

Veneers can improve the colour, shape or position of your teeth, and because they are very thin and held a special ‘super-glue’ very little preparation of the tooth is necessary.

Botox Therapy®

It’s natural that as we get older we develop lines, wrinkles and creases all over our body, but the effects are most visible on those areas which are exposed – particularly the face and neck.

For some of us, these wrinkles and lines are accepted as a sign of age and living a full life. But, for many others, these lines and creases can appear before we are ready for them!

Here at Horsley Dental we offer a full range of facial rejuvenation treatments to reduce the number of frown lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet etc.

Bridge2Aid

Dental Inequality

Martin Luther King once said that ‘Of all the forms of injustice in the world, inequality in health care is the worst’. From the dental perspective, 75% of the world’s population live without access to any form of dental care. Bridge2Aid was founded by a British dentist living and working in Tanzania just over 10 years ago. This charity works with the Tanzanian government in training local health care workers to extract painful teeth in rural areas without water and electricity. To find out more or to donate and help reduce that inequality in dental health click on www.bridge2aid.org. Asante sana (thank you in Swahili)!
